Animal Webaction visited the site 20 July 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"I've run out of kibble, but I've got 75 dogs to look after at the shelter, and 500 street dogs who depend on me too... Fights between dogs are already a problem, and I'm afraid the shortage will make things worse. The weakest are often the victims, and these conflicts cause injuries and suffering that I desperately want to avoid...
I am constantly on alert to intervene and separate the dogs before things get serious, but I can't be everywhere, and without kibble, I won't be able to manage them. I'm always wondering how to avoid the worst, how to find the kibble they so desperately need, but I don't have the answer. All my attempts have failed so far, and I am at a loss."
"Without kibble to feed the dogs, the consequences will be dire. The authorities might intervene and take drastic measures because they will consider the unattended dogs a public health threat. The thought of them perishing this way is unbearable to me. They have already suffered so much...
When I bring them kibble, I see hope and gratitude in their eyes, I know I'm not imagining it; they understand what it means. The thought of not being able to do this anymore haunts me, it will be a real betrayal if I can't find kibble, on so many levels. I don't want these dogs to be sacrificed, but I feel so helpless at this moment, I don't know how to prevent it."
"I am overwhelmed. Dogs are coming from everywhere. Abandonments, increasing strays, unexpected litters… The shelter is bursting at the seams, and the streets are overflowing with animals left to fend for themselves, whose chances are slim if no one helps them. I simply no longer have the means to buy kibble to feed so many dogs.
I have made multiple calls for help, public and private, to my community, potential suppliers, and partners, but these things take time to be done and bring results. Time, which I don't have, and the dogs have even less..."
"Being in animal protection is a constant battle, an incessant fight against indifference and abandonment. For years, I have dedicated my time and energy to saving these fragile lives. My commitment started with a simple gesture: offering a shelter to a stray dog. But very quickly, it became much more than that.
It's not just about feeding or caring for them, but also about giving love, security, and hope to those who had lost it... My resources are limited, while the needs are immense. But I have plenty of love and dedication to give, so I devote everything I can to them."
