Animal Webaction visited the site 01 August 2024 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Samira has almost no kibble left to feed the 70 dogs at her shelter: they will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"I only have enough kibble left for one day to feed the 70 dogs in my shelter. For 10 days, the dogs haven’t had a proper meal; the portions I can give them are getting smaller as time goes by and my stock remains empty. I see them starting to weaken, and I can't do anything to help—it devastates me.

I’ve exhausted all options to get kibble; I literally don't know what else to do. The hope that this campaign will succeed keeps me going, but I can’t help imagining the worst if it doesn’t work out. The anxiety of not being able to meet the dogs' needs keeps me from sleeping and functioning. I sincerely hope this campaign will spare them from further suffering."

2. Without kibble, dogs will wither, their immunity will drop... The most fragile ones won't survive!

###

"The dogs are already suffering from hunger, and their condition is worsening day by day. If the kibble shortage continues, we are headed for disaster! Their immune systems are weakening, and with so many of them, it creates a favorable environment for diseases, which will quickly turn into full-blown epidemics if we don't find a solution.

I am devastated at the thought that these dogs, who all deserve a chance to live healthy lives, are facing such distress. Their survival depends on whether I can provide them with kibble or not; it's as simple as that."

3. Samira lacks support and encounters indifference from the authorities; she can no longer buy kibble.

###

"Although the current situation at the shelter is critical, I cannot count on the authorities to help us. My efforts to obtain subsidies or simply assistance with kibble have hit a wall. Public funds seem to be directed elsewhere, leaving the abandoned and mistreated dogs without support. My requests seem invisible, just like the needs of these dogs which apparently concern no one.

It’s a harsh reality. I always thought that if I took things into my own hands, fought to represent these animals, and did most of the work, I could at least count on the support of the authorities. I was wrong. I am searching for alternatives to get through this crisis, but I only receive promises of support that vanish as soon as they are made, and I still have no way to obtain kibble at this time."

4. Samira isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"Since I opened this shelter, my life has undoubtedly changed. I have faced moments of doubt, sadness, and exhaustion, but also moments of intense happiness. Taking in these wounded and broken dogs, offering them a haven of peace, is a total commitment.

One doesn’t get into animal protection for glory or recognition; you do it because it’s necessary, because these animals deserve a chance at a better life, and seeing them achieve that makes up for all the other difficulties you may encounter.

I wish more people shared this vision. I know we are a minority, and I see the lack of understanding in many people's eyes. It’s a shame because the burden is heavier for those of us who fight for these poor creatures. Yet, just a little attention is enough to understand how much they understand and how much they are worth it."

5. If this campaign succeeds, Samira will not receive any money but 1460 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.
