Animal Webaction visited the site 24 August 2024 and confirms the situation described below.

1. In Bosnia, Armina will soon run out of kibble to feed the 650 dogs in her shelter. They will starve unless someone helps!

%%%

"Our kibble reserves are dangerously low. With barely enough kibble for 5 more days, I am already seeing the terrible consequences of the food shortage on our 650 dogs. For the past eight days, they haven't been eating enough; we are forced to reduce their portions, and it shows—their eyes betray a distress that is unbearable.

The lack of kibble also prevents us from taking in new dogs in distress. Each call about an abandoned or mistreated dog breaks my heart a little more, knowing that I can no longer welcome them into the shelter. The anxiety builds within me, as I know their survival is at stake...

This situation is extremely difficult, and I am relying so much on this campaign to ensure the survival of the dogs and to reopen our shelter to those who desperately need it."

2. The dogs are hungry and on edge: without kibble, Armina won't be able to avoid a catastrophe!

###

"The tension is already palpable. The dogs are hungry, and they don’t know if or when they will have enough to eat again. This uncertainty drives them to adopt defensive behaviors towards one another. The stronger dogs are starting to dominate, trying to take the share of the weaker ones who cannot fight back...

This situation breaks my heart. Seeing the dogs turn against each other because of the lack of kibble is extremely difficult, and I don’t even want to think about what will follow. If kibble is not found soon, the conflicts between the dogs will become uncontrollable."

3. The shelter is overflowing with dogs, but donations are in short supply: Armina is unable to buy new kibble.

###

"The shelter is overcrowded; the number of dogs taken in has exploded in recent months. I receive calls constantly about abandoned, mistreated, and hungry dogs, each day bringing its share of additional distress. I can't turn a blind eye. Our resources, which were already limited before, are depleting at an alarming rate, and the donations we receive are no longer sufficient to meet the growing demand. The kibble stocks have disappeared much faster than expected, and we can’t afford to buy more.

It’s a double burden because the amount of work needed at the shelter has never been greater, with even more dogs relying on me to bring them food and provide necessary care. To achieve this, I would need to devote all my time, and more, to finding new sponsors and ways to increase our resources. I am constantly juggling impossible priorities, and at some point, something needs to work, something needs to break through so we can get kibble and keep our heads above water."

4. Armina isn't asking for money, only kibble to prevent the dogs from starving.

###

"Living for animals means accepting a life of sacrifices and constant challenges. It means witnessing suffering, but also the resilience and extraordinary capacity of dogs to heal and start over. Every dog that enters the shelter has a painful story, and it’s my duty to help them write a new, happier chapter.

Sleepless nights, endless days, solitude, and dilemmas are my daily lot since I made this choice, and I accept it because there is an indescribable happiness in seeing an animal be reborn, knowing that we made it possible."

5. If this campaign succeeds, Armina will not receive any money but 1450 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.
