Oedema in her legs, water retention, joint pain: Daisy has caught anaplasmosis...

1. A tick has given her a tropical disease!

Daisy is a nearly 10-year-old dog that we rescued from a shelter in Reunion, just before we stopped taking in animals from outside the department.

She has anaplasmosis, a tropical disease transmitted by ticks, which causes joint pain, water retention and oedema in her legs. We've placed her in a foster home, where she's receiving treatment.

2. Canned food could help her recover

Age-appropriate canned dog food might encourage Daisy to eat more, helping her maintain her weight and cope with her medication. This high-quality, easy-to-digest food could perhaps help soothe her liver issues too.

3. The charity is burdened with costs…

We’ve stopped all acceptance of animals from outside the department and are only managing local cases now, due to numerous abandonments. Since the last lockdown, things have remained tough, and our food supplies have run out…

We're still looking after many animals, most of whom will stay with us for life! Paying for their care and treatments is also a considerable expense...
