Animal Webaction visited the site 11 September 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"I’m facing an extremely critical situation. The kibble stock at the shelter is dangerously low, with only 2 days’ worth left for the 180 dogs depending on it. I’ve already cut down the portions to the minimum to stretch it out, and the dogs are hungry. This shortage is preventing me from helping any new dogs in distress, even those in urgent need of rescue—the uncertainty is just too great.
This inability to save more dogs means that animals in desperate situations are left to fend for themselves, with no hope! It’s heartbreaking, especially considering the number of reports I’m getting. I can’t stop thinking about those dogs waiting for a helping hand but left abandoned...
At this point, all the dogs are at risk, whether they’re awaiting rescue or already at the shelter. It’s a tragedy."
"A prolonged shortage of kibble at the shelter would be a real disaster. The dogs are already weakened by their past experiences, and they’re living in close quarters. This makes them much more susceptible to diseases, and the risk of an outbreak is very real. Normally, even if a few illnesses arise here and there, everything stays under control because the dogs are well-fed and have strong immune systems. Most of the time, diseases are resolved with veterinary treatment.
Without kibble, their bodies will be too weak to fend off illnesses, and treatments will be ineffective. The situation could quickly spiral out of control. I’m desperately searching for a solution before it’s too late."
"I have to manage without the support of the local authorities, who are not at all involved in the battles the shelter is fighting. I am alone in ensuring the dogs' survival. Despite my repeated appeals, letters, and meetings, no concrete help has been provided by the local authorities. The reasons given are numerous: insufficient budget, redefined priorities, burdensome bureaucracy, etc. I’ve tried to raise awareness, mobilize the local media, and organize events to draw attention, but in the end, I can only rely on myself.
I do my best constantly. I buy kibble with my own money whenever possible, I make donation appeals and organize collections, but the needs are enormous, and resources are always limited. Today, I am completely unable to buy more kibble, and no one here hears my SOS. That’s why I need you."
"For several years now, I have been dedicated to protecting dogs that have often experienced very difficult times. My fight for these animals is not just a mission; it’s an integral part of my life. When I started, I had this deep conviction that every dog deserves a chance, no matter their past or condition, and they have always proven me right.
Every decision I make, every action I take matters for these fragile lives; that’s what makes it both so rewarding and so challenging. Sometimes it feels like everything is falling apart; you see things when you do this... things you couldn’t imagine, and the sadness never fully goes away. It’s not an easy path, yet it seems that the good moments shared with these animals and the beautiful surprises when we’ve almost given up are there to restore hope and strength when we need them most."
