Animal Webaction visited the site 14 September 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"My shelter is a lifeboat, and the dogs here all come from difficult situations: abandoned, abused... They arrive here with the hope of a new life, and this shelter is all they have. My role is to offer them a place where they find safety, love, and comfort, but today, I am helpless...
My mission is in jeopardy due to the lack of kibble, which I can no longer overcome. Even the most basic kibble has become unaffordable! I manage with stale bread and leftover meat to make up for it, but it's not enough... The dogs are visibly weakened, and I can't stand seeing them like this.
The last bags of kibble are disappearing like snow in the sun, and I have no prospects of getting more. I am terribly anxious... There is no other alternative, these dogs depend on me for food, and I depend on the success of this campaign to make it happen!"
"Running a shelter means spending months caring for dogs that arrive in pitiful conditions, clinging to the hope of giving them a second chance. This hope continuously drives me, but it is an illusion without kibble...
Some dogs are still suffering from injuries and illnesses, while others bear lifelong scars that make them vulnerable. None of them are in a condition to face the hunger that afflicts them now, let alone famine, even for a short time. They won’t be able to endure it. And I won’t be able to bear seeing them suffer without being able to help."
"The shelter's funds are not just empty; we are overwhelmed by debts accumulated over the months. Veterinary bills, unforeseen repairs, and daily maintenance costs have swamped us.
We had to operate on credit for a while, hoping to repay quickly, but the longer time passes, the further we fall behind, and we are on the verge of losing our suppliers because of this. It’s no longer possible to buy kibble or to take on more debt to get it on credit at this stage. In other words, we are stuck!
I have tried to obtain help elsewhere, organize fundraisers, events, and submit applications for subsidies, but none of it has worked. Administrative procedures are lengthy, and the results are slow to come, while the needs are immediate—the dogs need kibble."
"Dedicating oneself to animal protection involves immense demands. Heavy responsibilities, difficult decisions to make day after day, unwavering commitment, and selflessness...
However, there is incredible strength in the community of those who fight for these animals. Every small success, every dog saved, every successful adoption is a shared victory, both with the animals and with those who love them. These moments bring light to sometimes dark days and remind us why what we do here is so important."
Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Serbia which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble.
