Animal Webaction visited the site 22 September 2024 and confirms the situation described below.
"I barely have enough kibble to feed the 56 dogs in my shelter for about three days. It’s nowhere near enough, and I can’t afford to give any to the street dogs anymore! Yet, there are even more of them depending on me outside — nearly 70 dogs have been without kibble for days already.
It breaks my heart to know they’re hungry, to think they’re out there left to fend for themselves, without understanding why, desperately searching for something to eat…
They’re like family to me, and the thought of them suffering because I don’t have enough kibble is unbearable. But nothing I do to finally get kibble seems to be working! I feel powerless seeing their distress, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to protect them anymore."
"Every day, I see just how much these dogs rely on me to bring them kibble. Whether they’re at the shelter or out on the street, they’re so vulnerable…
What they understand, what they feel is that the kibble fills their hunger; what I know is that it helps them survive all the dangers around them, starting with illness. Without kibble, their health will suffer, and they’ll deteriorate quickly. Diseases will spread, and I won’t be able to stop it — it’ll be a double blow for them.
I worry about every single one of them. And there are so many that I can’t go a second without this worry eating me up inside."
"The expenses needed to ensure these dogs' protection have always been significant, but I used to be able to manage them somehow. The problem now is that they’ve become unbearable with the rising costs that impacts everyting, and that just won’t stop…
I’ve tried to cut back everywhere, to optimize everything, to reduce what we use to the bare minimum, but it’s not enough. To properly care for the dogs, I need a shelter to house them, water to keep them hydrated and keep their place clean, fuel for all the trips, medicine, treatments, and so much more!
I’m short on everything — starting with time to find lasting solutions. And every passing day reminds me that time is running out, not just for me, but for them too."
"The first time I reached out to a stray dog, I knew my heart would be forever tied to them. People might think it’s a choice — and in some ways, I suppose it is — but it’s more than that. It’s something undeniable, something I must do.
There’s nothing more heartbreaking than seeing an animal suffer in silence, with no one to help... And I can change that. I think that’s what makes all the difference, why I keep going.
I’m physically and emotionally exhausted at times, but the duty to never abandon those who need me gives me the strength to push through. And the love they give me in return often makes up for all the hardship — it’s the most beautiful reward."
