Diabetes, missing teeth, fragile health: Quincy is facing a string of challenges!

1. His teeth are gone due to a calicivirus!

Quincy is a cat of about seven years old, who is a carrier of the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). With a weakened immune system, he has contracted calicivirus.

To alleviate his pain, it was necessary to extract almost all of his teeth (only the canines remain left). Despite this, his gums are still very inflamed, making it difficult for him to eat. Therefore, we are administering cortisone injections to him from time to time to assist him.

2. He's diabetic...

A few months ago, Quincy started drinking a lot, abnormally. We carried out a blood test which revealed diabetes. He is now being treated with insulin, morning and evening.

3. Canned food would aid him in healthily regaining his strength

Special canned food for diabetic cats could help stabilise Quincy's glucose level, while respecting his specific dietary needs.

These cans would be easier for him to consume due to their moist and soft texture, thus relieving the pain from his inflamed gums. They would contribute to improving his overall health and daily well-being...

4. A typhus epidemic has caused havoc!

This year, we were faced with a typhus epidemic which complicated our activities. We had to temporarily suspend our intake and incur a significant expense in replacing the contaminated equipment!

With around fifty cats in foster homes and as many stray cats scattered across multiple sites, resources are truly limited...
