"We survive on donations—sometimes money, sometimes in-kind—but it's always random, unpredictable. Right now, donations have dried up, and we're struggling to find enough food for our dogs...
The only kibble we can afford is the lowest quality. We have just a few bags left, and a box of stale bread. It’ll barely last us until tomorrow. After that, we'll have nothing left...
We’re overwhelmed, with 100 dogs depending on us for food, and we’re unable to buy more kibble... The cold is coming, and if this campaign fails, our dogs will face a nightmare! They can’t wait."
2. Weakened by poor-quality kibble, the dogs are unlikely to survive the harsh bosnian winter if this campaign fails...
"The poor quality of the kibble is really affecting our dogs. Some are suffering from digestive issues, diarrhea, others are struggling to put on weight. No, they’re not skeletal, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need help. Quite the opposite!
With winter approaching, we’ll need to increase their portions so they can handle the Bosnian cold. But we’re already struggling to feed them enough as it is, and I no longer have enough donations to restock... We're at a dead end.
These dogs are like family to me. I devote all my time to them, I do everything I can for them... Yet, despite all my efforts, we’re still struggling! It’s really tough. To say I’m worried is an understatement."
3. Abandoned in sickness and old age, Luna is far too fragile to survive without kibble.
"We found Luna on the street about four months ago, abandoned, completely lost. She’s a hunting dog, but her age and a large tumor made her useless to her owner, who discarded her like an old rag...
We immediately took her to the vet, where she underwent surgery to remove the tumor. Today, she’s recovering with us, and we’re giving her the care she’s never had. Unlike younger dogs, she can’t go a day without food! She’s too old and still healing, she won’t be able to handle it."
4. Low donations, paused grants, and rising debts: the organization is counting on this campaign to get through the winter.
"Donations are irregular, and we haven’t received any municipal funding for three months due to the elections. Right now, our only support comes from a German association. We are incredibly grateful to them, but they can’t help much because they’re still getting established themselves.
We have no money left and are buried in vet debts. We have urgent spaying, neutering, and vaccination procedures pending, but the vet refuses to do them until we clear our outstanding bill... It’s a ticking time bomb, and it’s also preventing us from buying kibble.
This campaign is our only hope to get back on track and make it through the winter! Our dogs desperately need it."
5. Benjamin is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.
"Dogs hold a special place in my heart, and I devote myself entirely to helping them. At the shelter, I do everything: rescuing abandoned dogs, taking care of the physical tasks, taking them to the vet, and managing the bills. If there's a job to do, I do it.
I spend all my free time at this shelter. There are no days off or vacations here, because the dogs need care every single day. That’s how much they mean to me.
The work our organization does makes a real difference. Over the past four years, we’ve taken 1,800 dogs off the streets and found them loving homes. I’m proud of every single one of them. Each dog leaves our shelter healthy, strong, and well-socialized, ready for a new life. That’s what keeps me going and makes all this hard work so rewarding."
6. If this campaign succeeds, Benjamin will not receive any money but 1440 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics centre in Bosnia.
