Penelope is a nine-year-old dog, who originates from Reunion Island. She had heartworm and erlichiosis, tropical diseases which we have treated.
She arrived heavily handicapped: locked up for years in a cage that was too small, she was unable to stand and did not grow normally. Her back legs developed with the knees facing outwards, making it difficult for her to walk.
Penelope underwent surgery on one leg two weeks ago and is currently recovering. Her second leg should be operated on soon, which will finally allow her to walk normally and go on walks!
A complete and balanced diet - such as senior canned food - would allow Penelope to healthily replenish her energy. It would be an excellent source of vitamins and protein, providing her body with the means to recover after the operations.
A wave of humidity has weakened the health of the most vulnerable animals. Many have fallen sick, leading to unprecedented veterinary costs!
We are launching fundraising calls, but this remains insufficient to cover all the treatments and to buy the food they need...
