"I'm overwhelmed! The number of abandoned dogs at the shelter keeps rising, I'm now responsible for 177. 177 mouths to feed; alone, without support or regular donations. Every day is a struggle to provide them with the bare minimum. And now the worst is happening: I'm almost out of kibble. I’m stretching the last few rations, but I can’t keep pushing off the inevitable! In 2 or 3 days, there’ll be nothing left.
I'm exhausted, terrified of failing them. Each of these dogs is here because someone abandoned them... I am their only chance, possibly for years, or even for life; there are, unfortunately, far more dogs in need than there are families ready to adopt them here...
I see no solution. Without the kibble from this campaign, my shelter has no future... and neither do my dogs."
"Many of my dogs arrive with health issues: wounds, infections, mange… They’re vulnerable, and that’s exactly why they find shelter with me. Running out of kibble, even for a few days, is catastrophic for their health.
On top of that, my dogs live in groups. If the kibble shortage drags on, it’s bound to affect their behavior. They’ll become more irritable, more aggressive, toward me and toward each other! Fights will break out, and with 177 dogs, if things get out of control, I won’t be able to stop it...
I'm scared of reaching that point. Of not being able to protect them as they deserve. Of being forced to let them back on the streets to prevent them from harming each other here! Everything I've worked for—all the lives I've saved—would be lost..."
"Jack is a male dog, about six years old, whom I rescued on my way back from the vet in Tangier. He was trying to cross the road in scorching heat, I felt so sorry for him… I asked around to see if he belonged to someone, but they told me he’d been abandoned. Another one…
Jack suffers from mange; he’s currently being treated with an injection and an antiparasitic treatment. He’s very frail… He really needs to build up his strength. Without kibble, there will be no improvement, and no chance for him to heal."
"Donations have dried up, and problems are piling up at an insane rate: the landlord has raised the rent, and I can’t even pay the person who used to help me at the shelter. I’m now alone to care for 177 dogs, 14 more at my home, and dozens of cats…
I give my heart and soul to this mission, but it takes enormous physical and mental strength—while support is painfully lacking. Debts are mounting: veterinarian, kibble supplier, pharmacy, my former employee, the landlord… over 2,000 euros, that I don’t have!
The lack of funds is blocking everything. I have to postpone sterilizations, rescues, veterinary consultations… The authorities don’t help at all; if anything, they only make things harder. When I say that my dogs’ lives depend on this campaign, I’m not exaggerating…"
"I love my rescue work, especially the special moments I share with each animal. Watching them grow, heal, regain trust—it’s truly magicle! My work is essential for these abandoned dogs, because in my city, I’m one of the few—if not the only one—actively working to help them.
The love I have for them gives me the strength to keep going, despite everything. But I can’t do it all alone. I need support to move forward! Ultimately, these animals shouldn’t be my sole responsibility; it’s a responsibility we all share… Together, we could accomplish so much more for this cause."
