"These past few months have been particularly tough. With the road expansion works, 1,000 square meters of the shelter were demolished: offices, treatment rooms, and a large part of the outdoor space for the dogs. There was nothing we could do to stop it… It was a huge blow for us.
Not only did we lose essential space for our dogs, but also all the money we had invested in those facilities, which were reduced to nothing… And to make matters worse, we had to start rebuilding. Our finances are drained, completely exhausted… We’re at a critical point.
To feed the dogs, we’re doing what we can. We’re rationing the kibble as much as possible and giving them hard bread as a supplement. It’s far from ideal: the dogs are hungry, and with a smaller yard, we have to be extra vigilant to prevent fights among dominant ones. But the worst part is that in just a few days, we’ll have nothing left to give them… If this campaign fails, it will be catastrophic. I feel frustrated, defeated… I don’t know what else to do."
"The poor diet they’re enduring is causing major issues for the dogs: they’re experiencing digestive problems, deficiencies, and most worryingly, they’re losing weight, which is really alarming. Some are also developing skin and coat problems.
I’m especially worried about our senior dogs. They’re more fragile and vulnerable to illnesses. At their age, deficiencies are unforgiving… And if there’s a fight with more dominant dogs, they won’t stand a chance. If the kibble shortage continues, I fear they’ll be the first to suffer… and the first to go.
This kibble campaign must succeed. It’s a matter of life or death! Without it, our dogs simply won’t survive."
"Wish is a female dog about 2–3 years old. She was found by a woman, her front leg severed. We took her in, but the injury was too severe, and we had to amputate. Her condition is still very fragile, as the amputation is recent—barely three weeks ago.
Wish is very fearful, likely due to everything she’s been through. She’s still extremely weak and urgently needs kibble to regain her strength and recover!"
"The association’s financial situation is dire. The reconstruction of the shelter has completely drained our resources, and the fundraising campaigns we’ve launched to help haven’t met their targets…
The donations we receive are far too low to cover the needs of the dogs and emergency care. This shortfall puts enormous pressure on the organization. We’re actively seeking new donors, but so far, our efforts haven’t paid off.
We’re in debt to the vet—for treatments, medications… And our daily needs for food are immense, not just for the dogs, but also for the cats and equines under our care! This campaign is our only hope to get back on our feet."
"What drove me to dedicate myself to animal protection was, above all, my love for animals. Seeing their suffering, especially here in Morocco, where so many are abused or abandoned, was unbearable for me. I felt the need to act, to do something for them. What keeps me going today is hope—the hope of giving them a better life. And then there’s the immense satisfaction of seeing them recover, seeing the happiness in their eyes at last.
Our association, our shelter… It has become vital for the dogs in this region. After so many years, we’re here, strong, indispensable. We’re a haven, a true pillar for animal protection here. And it’s not just about structures or numbers. It’s tangible; you see it every day.
We give them so much more than they could ever find on the streets: safety, care, food, affection. Everything they could never have on their own. That’s what really matters—making a difference in their lives!"
