Animal Webaction visited the site 10 January 2025 and confirms the situation described below.
"The dogs are getting weaker and weaker; they've been underfed for over 10 days. I look at them, I know them, and I can tell they don't understand—they're suffering. It breaks my heart...
No matter what I do, I just can't get more kibble! And now, the last bags are empty... I'm out of options.
These dogs are not to blame—they've already been through so much. I can't bear to see them suffer from hunger!"
"If we don't find kibble in time, the most vulnerable dogs won't make it. We have dogs in recovery, some with wounds that haven't healed yet, who are still weak and for whom proper nutrition is crucial—they won’t be able to recover without kibble. We also have dogs fighting illness, for whom no medication will work if they don’t eat properly.
The fear of not being able to save them keeps me up at night. Some have already fought so hard and made so much progress, only to end up condemned by the lack of kibble—it’s unbearable."
"Running a shelter requires an enormous amount of resources. The needs are immense and constant: kibble, veterinary care, equipment, infrastructure... However, the available resources are often inconsistent, and donations can vary significantly depending on the time of year. Until now, I have filled the gaps when necessary with my own resources, often buying kibble with my own money because the shelter's finances couldn’t cover it. But my personal resources have recently dropped drastically, making the situation untenable.
I don’t think it’s possible to cut the shelter's expenses any further than what has already been done, and I wish I had a magic wand to make all my efforts successful so that the dogs never lack anything. But the reality is that most of my attempts to improve the situation have failed, and I feel helpless in finding a solution in the given time."
"I’m not really sure how I ended up doing all this; it gradually became an inevitable part of my life. The stray dogs ask for nothing more than to survive, to find a place to rest their tired bodies, and to receive a bit of kindness. Helping them isn’t a grand or heroic mission; it’s a necessity, a responsibility that everyone should ideally take on in the name of our humanity.
What touches me is not just the suffering I see, but the indifference that accompanies it. Of course, it’s easier to look away, to walk past without taking action. But for me, every abandoned dog is a harsh reminder of our failure to care for those who depend on us. Their hunger and cold aren’t just random consequences; they are the results of collective neglect, and I can’t, and won’t, resign myself to that."
