1. In Morocco, the 900 dogs in Michèle's shelters will soon run out of kibble. They will starve if nobody helps!

%%%

"Right now, we have 900 dogs across our two shelters. That’s an enormous number. And that’s not even all of them… Besides the ones we directly care for, we also feed the dogs at the local pound. In total, we’re responsible for around 1,100 dogs. A staggering number. And yet, new dogs arrive every single day…

Every day, people beg me to take in more dogs, more puppies… The need is overwhelming, especially when it comes to kibble! We need tons of it to feed them all. But whenever we launch a donation appeal for kibble, the response is weak…

Right now, we only have enough to last four more days. I’m desperately looking for a solution. Because without kibble, we can’t survive! We’re talking about thousands of lives. We can’t just abandon them…"

2. The dogs live in groups—if they aren’t fed, they will turn on each other…

###

"Fights in our shelters are rare because we’re constantly keeping watch. But with so many dogs, it’s impossible to prevent them entirely. Thankfully, we’ve had very few serious injuries, though the occasional scuffle happens…

The real problem is kibble. As long as there’s enough, and the dogs are well-fed, everything is fine. But the moment it runs out, tensions skyrocket. We simply cannot afford to cut portions!

Our priority is simple: every dog should have food, water, and medical care. But for that, we rely entirely on donations. No help means no kibble. And without kibble, we can’t keep them alive…"

3. Blind and injured, Cam is entirely dependent on the kibble Michèle can provide to survive.

###

"Cam has been at our shelter for several years now. We took him in after a call from local residents. He’s six years old and completely blind, which makes everything much harder for him—he bumps into things, gets hurt, and moves around without knowing where he’s going. He’s constantly lost, forced to guess his way through, and that puts him in danger every single day.

Just recently, he injured his head. We don’t know exactly how—maybe he hit something, maybe it happened some other way. We can’t watch him every second, but we’ll have to be even more careful to keep him from getting hurt again.

He’s completely dependent on us. He can’t see, he can’t search for food, and he can’t fend for himself like the others. If his food isn’t placed right in front of him, he won’t find it. Without us, he simply can’t eat. Running out of kibble is not an option—it would be a disaster for him."

4. The need for kibble is enormous, but donations barely cover half of it: without more support, Michèle won’t be able to feed her dogs!

###

"Our needs are enormous, and we can only cover about half with donations. The rest comes from my own pension and a few friends who help however they can. Sometimes, international organizations send occasional donations. Thankfully, a Swiss foundation supports our sterilization efforts.

But day to day, it’s a struggle. Vet bills never stop. The costs are staggering, unimaginable… And with 900 dogs in our care—not even counting the ones from the pound—it’s a financial black hole. In 2024, we had 80 adoptions. That’s something… but with 900 dogs, it barely makes a dent!

We’re doing everything we can, but the reality is we can’t do this alone. Every bit of help matters. No matter the amount, no matter the form, we welcome it with open arms. Because without it, we won’t make it. And neither will they."

5. Michèle isn’t asking for money—just kibble, so the dogs don’t starve.

###

"I’ve been fighting for animal welfare for 17 years. It all started with a small clinic caring for 80 dogs. Then, in 2013, I founded Le Cœur sur la Patte to launch a TNVR program with the Agadir city council. After years of effort, it was finally funded by the government—a first in Morocco! By 2018, 1,300 stray dogs had been sterilized and vaccinated… But everything changed when authorities decided to clear out all the dogs, even the identified ones…

I made a tough decision: to save them all. Suddenly, I found myself running three shelters, responsible for over 800 dogs—something I had never planned for. But leaving them behind was out of the question. Today, we continue to sterilize, feed, and care for Agadir’s animals, including those from the pound. But it’s a never-ending battle, an exhausting fight.

At 70, my health is fragile. Since my illness, I’ve been very weak. But the visits, the emergencies, the search for donations… it all falls on me. Every day, there are a thousand things to handle, and I am exhausted. But as long as there’s one more animal to save, I won’t give up."

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

8. In Morocco, donors are scarce, and there are no foundations or subsidies. It is very difficult to find funding for kibbles, many dogs remain starving on the street!
