Clochette is a 13 year old dog that we saved from a certain death on the island of Reunion. A victim of the roundups targeting stray dogs on the island, she had been taken to a pound to be euthanised. Our association stepped in just in time to give her a second chance.
Clochette has had a life full of trials. After surviving heartworm, she is now facing severe glaucoma in both eyes. Despite intensive care since December, including suturing her eyelid to prevent removal of the eye, her vision is greatly compromised.
Clochette is living with a long-term foster family. Her progressive loss of vision has made her fearful and sometimes aggressive as she loses her bearings.
Clochette can only eat canned food, as in addition to her vision problems, she has almost no teeth left... Senior canned food is necessary to ensure a diet suitable for her age and condition. This soft food would allow her to eat without difficulty, while she adapts to her loss of vision.
Our association primarily takes care of sick, elderly dogs, often nearing the end of their lives. We are currently caring for 106 dogs with severe health conditions that require expensive care. All our budget goes towards veterinary expenses! We have no budget for food, even though our dogs desperately need special diet... which is very expensive. We really need a helping hand to manage!
