Cahuète was rescued last year during a seizure for mistreatment, alongside a dozen other dogs. She was living in appalling conditions, confined to a rabbit cage with her mother. This discovery brought an end to years of suffering in this illegal breeding facility.
Upon her arrival, Cahuète was in a catastrophic state: cachectic, she was suffering from multiple organ failures, notably affecting her heart and kidneys.
Thanks to our intensive care, she has thankfully managed to regain strength, even though she must follow a lifelong treatment with telmisartan for her cardiac and kidney problems.
As she only has her canine teeth left, all her other teeth having had to be extracted, Cahuète can only feed herself with pâté. Senior canned food is essential to allow her to eat properly while taking her medication. This special diet would help to maintain her fragile health.
Our association primarily cares for sick, elderly dogs, often at the end of their lives. We're taking care of 106 dogs at the moment, with heavy pathologies that require costly care. All our budget goes into veterinary costs! We have no budget to allocate to food, whilst our dogs precisely need a special diet... and therefore very expensive. We could really use a helping hand to get through this!
