Animal Webaction visited the site 03 April 2019 and confirms the situation described below.
We went to Georgina's shelter on March 3rd, the remaining dog food will only last two weeks!
In her shelter in Romania, Georgina currently has 30 dogs.
Alerted by Georgina that her food stock was running low, and that she encountered big difficulties to renew it, we visited her shelter right away.
The last few weeks have been extremely challenging, with many dogs rescued in critical conditions.
This situation exhausts Georgina and her few supporters, physically and mentally, but worst of all financially: no one can buy any more dog food!
We want to help her, by sending 1800 kg of kibble as soon as possible
On April 2nd, Georgina told us that her food stock was running low: we went there the next day.
During our visit, we noticed that there were only a few bags left in storage, enough to feed Georgina's dogs for only 2 weeks.
Currently, the shelter hosts thirty dogs, a number that varies very often , depending on the departures but especially on the new arrivals at the shelter: "For every 2 adopted dogs, 7 new dogs arrive at the shelter" Georgina tells us
Within a few weeks, many dogs had to be rescued, often under extremely difficult conditions." The last few weeks have been really difficult, many urgent cases. We have never had so many critical cases in such a short time before," said Katrin, one of Georgina's and Lupy's main supporters.
Georgina is a volunteer of association Lupy, which also has a small shelter. She's been receiving valuable help from the Mukitza association, as well as from a support group based in Germany for several years.
Unfortunately, the total cost of the rescues in recent months is much higher than the help that these two organizations can provide, and Georgina herself has exhausted her financial resources!
We can swing into action, we have already booked a truck and pallets, but we have to pay it before April 9th.
If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...
If the collection fails, we will refund all donors
Georgina works full time, and takes care of the thirty dogs at her shelter alone. However, she considers it imperative to take time for those who cannot be accommodated because of lack of space.
Georgina regularly visits different sites where several street dogs have taken up residence, both to watch over them and to try to control the local dog population. Thanks to the care she provides, the sterilizations she organizes, and the vaccinations she carries out, she contributes to improving the well-being of these dogs, while containing their proliferation and epidemics.
Moreover, the food she brings them allows these dogs to eat their fill, which is very difficult for them without outside help.... But this is compromised by the stock of kibble that is coming to an end!
Since 2009, Georgina has been working for the Orastie dogs, entirely on a voluntary basis. She takes care of feeding and caring for the animals, cleaning their living space, but also carrying out rescues, and placing ads in town as soon as a dog is found, in the hope of finding its owner.
Veterinary assistant, she devotes all her free time to abandoned dogs, every day from 4pm, as well as on weekends. Her job gives her access to certain medical treatments necessary for dogs, which she administers to them herself.
While the situation could discourage many, Georgina describes herself as "strong and determined": she considers herself to be doing everything in her power to help the Orastie dogs, and has learned to be content with it. After all these years, she remains confident that things will change gradually, and that animal abandonment will become rarer over time.
If the collection succeeds, the 1800 kg collected will be used to feed the dogs at Georgina's shelter, ans well as street dogs she cares for.
- Animal Webaction has been helping more than 750 animal welfare associations over the past 4 years, with more than 1,700 deliveries in 8 countries (see photos).
- We make sure to contact each partner association, inquire to ensure its reliability and always ask for supporting documents.
- Our partner associations only receive physical products, which means we never send money. When you offer 10kg of food, we deliver 10kg of food to the association.
- We also deal with transportation ourselves, and make sure all the products collected are properly brought where the association needs them to be, so a quick delivery is guaranteed.
- We will notify you by email as soon as the product bought thanks to your donation has been delivered.
- We will ask the association to take pictures of the food received, and will send you these pictures.
- If you change your mind, we will refund your donation upon request, without charge or proof of any kind.
- If unfortunately the collection fails, we will not deliver anything, we will refund you the full amount of your donation.
