1. Dogs have been lacking kibble for months, there will be none left on December 14: they will not survive the winter without kibble!
The best months, Andrea manages to buy 1 ton of kibble to feed the 187 dogs welcomed at the shelter, as well as the street dogs: a quantity already much lower than the daily needs of dogs ...
To compensate because she has not enough kibble, Andrea recovers bones and rind of pork, a very poor nutrient food for dogs
"Because of the poor quality food, the dogs cannot gain weight. Sometimes fights break out because there is not enough food" she explained to us during our discussions
"December and January are generally difficult times, we cannot raise enough funds. We have more than 200 dogs to feed ..." she said, worried for the coming months
Following her SOS we went there on December 7: there were only 80 kg of kibble left ...
Andrea's shelter is now gathering 187 dogs, for whom she has to find food month after month, without counting the other dogs in her care, especially in the streets.
"They eat dry dog food, pork rind, bones Because of the poor quality food, the dogs can’t gain any weight. Sometimes they are fighting due the lack of food" as she told us.
The few bags left during our visit have been exhausted for several days : "We bought 14 bags of food which will cover until tomorrow....the food is not good quality but we do what we can" Andrea told us on December 12.
2. Every single one of them would have been euthanized without Andrea's intervention, they need us
Old, and suffering from a severe ear infection, Negrila was locked in a pound practicing euthanasia before being rescued by Andrea. As the law allows in the country, many pound dogs euthanize dogs after a period of 14 days, in the absence of adoption

Andrea is fighting tirelessly to avoid this fate to the greatest number, and allow the survivors to know a second chance. They are 187 to have escaped a tragic death in the pound, we must help them overcome the winter.
3. Without any grant, and with too few donations, Andrea can not face the expenses anymore
For several months, Andrea has been calling for help to buy kibble for residents of the shelter, but this is still not enough
Despite the valuable help of her community, many dogs remain without sponsorship, and totally depend on her today...
Because she can not remain indifferent to animal misery, Andrea must also cover the costs for the most fragile dogs, and welcomes several litters of puppies at the same time.
Andrea doesn't receive any money from the municipality, who sees no interest in her actions ... She must therefore manage on her own to maintain the shelter, and cover all the costs involved.
If faithful supporters participate financially, their help is far from reaching the expenses generated by the management of the shelter, starting with food.
Andrea struggles to make the shelter known to as many people as possible, and try to ask for help from local shops in order to obtain leftovers to make up for the lack of kibble, but that is not enough!
4. Andrea works full time to support the needs of the shelter, she is not able to do more
To be able to provide for the needs of abandoned dogs, and avoid euthanasia for the greatest number, Andrea has to occupy a full-time position, outside the shelter
Created in 2009, the shelter kept being open thanks to Andrea's commitment and perseverance, and despite the changes in her own life, which now forces her to work in a city very far away from it.
Andrea is now forced to pay employees to care for the dogs in her absence. If she would like to move the shelter to be closer, butonce again the lack of means is stopping her from doing it.
To meet the needs of the shelter, Andrea now occupies a full-time position in a town far from the shelter. For the sake of dogs, she travels hundreds of miles each month ...
Due to lack of resources, she can neither move the shelter to her side, nor allow herself to lose her job, which today allows her to pay multiple expenses for the shelter.
Andrea is already investing a lot of her own money, time and energy to help the dogs, so there is no room left for more.
5. If we don't reach the target, dogs won't receive any food

If the collection fails, we will not be able to pay, the departure of the truck will be cancelled and none of the collected kibbles will be delivered...

6. This summer, five of the eight pounds of the area were closed, Andrea struggled to avoid euthanasia to dozens of dogs

While eight public shelters have been active in the area for several years, the closure of five of them has been agreed this summer, mainly for budgetary reasons.
Hundreds of dogs were threatened with euthanasia in the absence of adoption by the deadline set for the closure. Several shelters were mobilized on the department to avoid this fate to a maximum of animals: more than thirty were welcomed by Andrea on this occasion.
But the lack of resources is becoming more and more hard to deal with, the shelter lacks everything, they need our help.
7. Because of a lack of means, the shelter misses space and protected areas, soon it will be down to -12 ° C, dogs need kibbles
During our visit on December 7, the negative temperatures were already hitting the shelter: transformed into blocks of ice, all the water tanks had to be changed ...
Current predictions indicate that the cold is far from being over, dogs will have to struggle for long weeks before temperatures rise
With almost 200 dogs depending on her, and a chronic lack of resources, the shelter does not offer the best protection against the cold. They will not be able to fight without kibble
"Several kennels still have to be changed, but we cannot at the moment" explained Andrea
Improvised kennels have been built, and Andrea makes sure that all dogs have some straw to warm them up. But kibbles are absolutely necessary to fight against the cold
8. Andrea's faithful supporters are exhausted and fail to do more, they ask us to help
In her fight, Andrea is supported by several small groups and associations from abroad, who have been helping her for months, even years, to help abandoned dogs.
But the past few months have been very hard for everyone, and the many interventions required since the summer have largely dried out their means. If they continue to do their best to help Andrea to adopt the dogs (147 dogs have been adopted since January 2019), they are at the end of their capacity to buy kibble, and ask us to support them.
9. We want to save them

Andrea has been fighting for more than 10 years to help abandoned dogs : "I share myself between family, job and dogs. It's hard but I don't complain, as this is what I chossed to do. My happiness is to see dogs leaving for a better life.." she told us.
If she accepts the personal sacrifices involved in her commitment, she refuses to see the dogs suffering from her lack of resources : "I want nothing more than to know that those dogs have food, good care, medical care, shelter, and a chance to be adopted."
