Animal Webaction visited the site 02 April 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

Animal Webaction cannot be held responsible for any animal deaths caused by the lack of kibble.

1. In Serbia, Ana has no more kibble to feed street dogs. Because of the pandemic, many have been thrown into the streets, where they starved to death!

"The situation with COVID-19. It has shaken the country to the core. A lot of people are in isolation, Each day a few new dogs appear because people either can’t or won’t care about them. They toss them out on the street. This is a country where most of the people and the laws don’t care about stray dogs and animals in general. The country won’t help us at all, so we need to fend on our own. We know well what happens when street dogs get hungry. They form packs and become very aggressive. Weaker dogs perish and then frightened people start poisoning every street dog in the neighborhood. It’s a living nightmare"

2. Ana and the volunteers don't even have enough food to feed the 56 dogs at the shelter... Without food, they too will starve!

"Our main concern is the lack of food.  We can’t feed all of the dogs with bagels, bones, and bread alone. Some of the food that we get is bad so dogs have problems with digesting it properly, usually that leads to me taking them to the vet. Strays are dying, the situation is crazy"

3. Jaza is one of the most fragile dogs at the shelter, he has just had surgery and suffers from multiple ailments... He is thin, does not eat much, without kibble he will not survive!

###

"He's only six years old. His spine was injured when we found him, he also has problems with digestion and bladder . He had an operation and although he cannot walk, his pains are alleviated. His diet needs to be managed well, he is skinny and doesn't eat a lot"

4. Ana and the volunteers devote their lives to abandoned dogs, but they will have to stop everything because of the lack of resources. They can't buy kibble!

###

"I adore animals and their emotions that they have towards humans that help them. Seven years ago I met people from BETA and I connected with them because we felt the same way about animals. But because of our limited resources we are afraid that we might stop helping dogs for a time, maybe even indefinitely. The thing is, when dogs get hungry they are nervous, so it’s hard for us to calm them down."

5. Ana doesn't want money, just kibble to keep the dogs from starving

###

"There are too many strays on the street and no matter how hard we try, we can’t save them all. I can’t ignore an animal in need. When the dogs are happy, I am too."

6. Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Serbia. We can deliver kibbles despite the pandemic, but we have to be quick, transport could be cut off soon!

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre directly in Serbia, which is still active despite the pandemic, allowing us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Donations are dropping and debts are increasing, Ana is helpless and fears that this action will also fail

###

"We have lots of debts. We are in debt because of the food that we buy and because of the vet’s bills. Our resources are stretched thin. For some unknown reason, our donors are sending us less money for food nowadays. And they are more willing to help us heal the dogs, even though we have pointed out that our food supplies are low"

8. Actions launched on Animal Webaction often fail

9. In Serbia, street dogs are hunted by the State and ignored by the population, volunteers like Ana are their only hope
