Animal Webaction cannot be held responsible for dog deaths due to the absence of kibble.

1. In Romania, Monica will soon have no more kibble left for the 51 dogs at her shelter. If no one does anything, they will starve to death!

"I am almost every day concerned that the food might end, the lack of food is my daily concern. I am worried all the time. I live in a village where the mentality of the people is very different. I am the only animal rescuer, people do not care so much about dogs because they are only concerned about the animals that are a source of food for them.

I feel sorry for the animals and I am trying to take care of them as much as I can, but my possibilites are very limited. I prefer to miss my lunch and give them food than to know that they are hungry. I cannot live with that thought.

I have a low pension, and I sustain everything by myself most of the time. I am trying to do my best, but I am very stressed."

2. New dogs keep being abandoned on the street and in the pound, but Monica will have to stop rescuing them if she doesn't find kibble!

"I am very concerned that there are so many dogs on the streets and I won’t be able to take care of all of them. On personal level, I suffer very much when I see so many dogs on the streets.

I try to rescue as much as I can, even if is very difficult. I work a lot, I'm not young anymore and I never have less than 50 60 dogs.

I am trying to save all the dogs, but I don’t have any help, so the situation becomes really hard for me. I have difficulties because the dogs need food, medical support and everything is expensive, especially for a person who is at her 70’s."

3. Tarzan still bears the marks of a lifetime of abuse, Monica wants to keep him from going hungry at all costs.

"Tarzan is about 10 years old. He has one eye out, limp in one leg. His story is the reality of dogs in Romania. He was beaten all the time. At some point, he was beaten so hard with a crowbar, that he lost his eye. He could have just died.

But he is stubborn to live. Now I have him at the shelter. I wish with all my heart that someone would give him a quiet old age. He's only been at the shelter for about 2 weeks, his all life he was beaten and tormented."

4. For 8 years, Monica has been sacrificing everything for the dogs of Buzau, but the situation is getting harder and harder, she can't buy anymore kibble.

"I loved the animals since I was a child. I love animals very much and I am the only animal lover from this area. I feel very sorry for them and I am angry on the people who abandon them and don’t try to help them.

I am used to do everything by myself, but everything becomes more difficult for me. I am an aged person who has to do so many things every day and I think people do not love animals as much as I do. The people from my village consider me crazy because I have so many dogs in my yard, but I can’t be myself if I know that I can help a soul and I don’t do it.

I cannot longer cope by my own because I am alone and I have limited resources. I live in a poor area and I am asking for support from my friends who live abroad, but the don’t have resources to send me all the time."

5. Monica doesn't ask for money, just kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

"I am helpless from many points of view. First of all, regarding food, I feel ashamed to ask for help every time from the same persons, but the situation is difficult.

Then, I live in a isolated village, the transportation to a nearby city (90 km) is expensive and the action is very time consuming. I cannot handle everything by myself anymore for a long time."

6. Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania, in spite of the lockdown we can deliver kibbles all over the country!

Animal Webaction has a logistics centre in Romania, still active despite the lockdown, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7. Monica can count on the support of a handful of friends, but they've already done their best, she doesn't know how to get out of it.

"I am not known for my activity because I am 70 years old and I don’t know how to use social media and this is why becames really hard to be helped by people.

I would need someone to promote my activity, maybe that’s how I would reach some donations, but I am old and I don’t know how to do that.

I am lucky because the money is small, a few friends from abroad donate me money from time to time to buy dog food. They help me as much as they can, but I can't cover all the expenses with this and the vet with treatments, vaccinations, etc."

9. In Romania, it is difficult to find funding for kibbles, there is no aid, no grant, no foundation... Many abandoned dogs die alone on the street, in complete indifference...

If you know of a foundation or NGO that could help Monica, please invite them to contact us so that we can put them in touch.

If you represent an animal welfare foundation or NGO, please help Monica's dogs, contact us and we will put you in touch!

If you would like to come to Monica's shelter or send her food or a cheque directly, please contact her via Facebook (note: direct help is your own responsibility).

11. Containment measures did not allow us to visit the shelter to prepare this campaign.

Due to the current health crisis, Romania is currently under lockdown. As travel has been drastically reduced and controlled, it was impossible for us to visit Monica to organise this campaign

However, Animal Webaction visited Monica's shelter only a few months ago. We have been in close contact with her for almost 2 years (she has allowed us to prepare this campaign), and we have full confidence in her.
