Animal Webaction visited the site 26 June 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"Currently we have 109 dogs at the shelter, and very few donations. Lately I've only had three donations of kibble. I have to mix the kibbles with rice or bread, but even that is too expensive.
I don't have any money left, I never know how I'm going to get by. I am up to my neck in debt to suppliers and veterinarians, I don't even know if one day I will be able to pay them back.
We hope that people will start to react to our cause and make donations because it's the one and only solution, the state doesn't want to help us. If no one reaches out to us, we will be lost! "
"I have the impression that mentalities don't change here, even if I do my best. I work practically 24 hours a day, I suffer from illness, death, lack of food... And when I go out on the street it's as if nothing has happened.
I find injured animals in front of my door; and in the streets there are always more animals that need help, that are sick, that need shelter. I can't take them all in for lack of means, for lack of space, for lack of staff.
I already don't have enough kibble for the shelter dogs, so how can I help them all? I'm not a superwoman, I'm not ashamed to say that I can't do everything on my own, it's not possible. If I can't find kibble, those dogs will die in the street!"
"Brownie's a year and a half old bitch, she's been at the shelter for two weeks, she was dropped off at my door. She was in a car accident, the vet said she's paralyzed, she won't be able to walk anymore.
She's really skinny and when we took her in, she refused categorically to eat, I don't know what happened, but I suspect she was also poisoned...
She's very scared and needs a lot of attention. If I can't find any kibble, she will suffer greatly. Her general state of health is not good enough to sustain her."
"My main concern is food, but it's not the only problem. There are also veterinary fees, pest control products, rent, employees to pay... and the costs that arise, such as electricity bills, a broken faucet, etc... The charges are becoming more and more enormous, and the donations are less and less there.
I ask people for help, but I can't find anyone, because of the confinement, it's every man for himself. More and more people bring me dogs, many have diseases, I have lost many puppies because of the Parvo for example...
It's important that you know what a day here at the shelter can look like for us. We're not in comfort, we're in a hurry!"
"Even as a little girl, I was the only one in my family to pick up puppies or kittens whenever I had the chance. With time, I had animals of my own, and then I finally decided to free myself to devote myself 100% to animal protection in Morocco.
For my babies I am ready to do the impossible, but I must admit that I am more and more tired, physically and mentally. Here, it is rare to find someone who will think of others, who will think of the poor and who will think of the animals. My frustration has reached its peak."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, still active despite the confinement, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"I'm doing my best, but if I don't find financial and physical help, I'll be lost. You can hardly do something huge on your own, you need help.
Some days we feel triumphant and some days we feel totally defeated. In the midst of this chaos, there are these gentle, innocent creatures who need our help. Please give what you can to help us."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The organizer doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
