Animal Webaction visited the site 24 July 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"I haven't had any kibble for several days, so my dogs eat rice or pasta... I don't have any source of income so I can't buy any. I can't even buy medicine: a bad diet in addition to the lack of treatment is extremely dangerous for my dogs, I really fear for their survival..."
"Without kibble, dogs will become more aggressive, they might even attack people or run off into the neighbours' garden in search of food.
Dogs have special needs and can't eat just anything, they also have dental problems due to their age, so I have to provide them with a correct and adapted diet. If I don't find kibble soon, the situation could get worse..."
"I can't even fix the house that's about to fall apart. I have no running water, no heating... I even have to live in the same room with my 30 dogs.
The neighbors are aggressive towards the dogs because according to them they only have a utilitarian purpose: if the dogs can no longer be useful on their farm then they abandon them or kill the poor animals."
"Since my childhood I have been surrounded by animals and I got used to living with and helping them when they are in need.
I started building this shelter 7 years ago when the government introduced a law that all stray dogs had to be caught and killed. I am on my own, I have no financial stability and those two things together are not good news. I try as much as I can to stay positive, but my situation is becoming more and more difficult, even more so since the coronavirus...it just seems impossible to survive on my own.
I can't afford to take them to the vet because I don't have any income, I don't have running water or heating either. I ask for help, but I've begged people so many times that they can't help me anymore."
"Azorel was my grandmother's dog. She passed away about 7 years ago and since then I've been taking care of him. Because of his cancer he had surgery, and this year he had 5 sessions of chemotherapy. He is so weak that he spends his time lying down... He needs special care, but above all he needs the right food to survive!"
"I love to do this, I love animals and I love to see them happy. But I can't do it on my own anymore. I try as much as possible to keep the shelter open and I work for these animals 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Lately, because of the pandemic and the containment, people are not giving at all, probably because they are afraid of what will happen next and trying to save money. Today, people are thinking more about themselves and no longer have in mind to help animals. I really need help!"
