"At the moment there are cats everywhere, we can't get by, even in the places where we have spayed them all, it's unbelievable.
It's crazy, I was not expecting this. Every week there are new ones. We take in the babies, the adoptable adults, we made a room for them, to have them adopted. The wild ones we can't of course, there are more than 100 of them on the street. We give them a chance, they deserve it, they are so brave.
I can't leave them without eating, we get attached to them, even the wild ones. They understand everything, they come out as soon as they hear the car."
2. Without kibble, the most fragile cats will not be able to hold on for long...
"We called him Ange because he is too nice, we don't know his story. He was thrown on the site in a pitiful state about a month ago, he was very, very thin.
He was suffering from a severe coryza obviously, we took care of him, he's a little better, but he absolutely needs kibbles to regain strength".
3. The association is buckling under the weight of the new mouths to feed, and of the amount of sterilizations to finance in order to get out of this bad patch.
"They are everywhere, we were called to another place again this week, there are about twenty of them there, unsterilized. We haven't been there yet, we're so overwhelmed, it's very difficult.
We host permanently around about fifty cats, no matter how many get adopted, it is insane. Not to mention the wild ones, people throw them out all the time, there are people who take cats for pets, just to throw them away six months later. We never stop, it is an eternal continuation.
There are babies all around, wild babies born on the street. Females still pregnant also, we have them sterilized as soon as we can. But it is not easy, we do the best we can. I didn't think that every day there would be some new ones. A cat in bad condition to rescue, new kittens, every time it's the same."
4. The association is doing its best to find help, but does not have enough support to meet the current needs.
"We ask for donations, we organise raffles, but otherwise it's all out of my pocket. We have asked for help from several foundations, we received a pallet from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation a while ago, but no answer from the others.
We are lucky to have a brave mayor who loves animals, he has paid several important veterinary bills for us, especially for sterilizations. But we have so many cats to care for, he can't pay for everything. "
5. Christine is not asking for money, just kibble to keep the abandoned cats from starving.
"This summer, in 2 months, we had 70 adopted kittens, 30 adults, we have not been idle, but there are still as many. It goes on and on.
We can make collections in shops again right now, and that helps us a lot, it's better than nothing, but it's not enough. It feeds them a little bit, and we do what we can."
