Animal Webaction visited the site 05 September 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"In about a month, 4 dogs only were adopted, but at the same time over 20 dogs were brought in to the shelter. We can't handle things on our own as we have no regular sponsor, and the number of dogs is high, and constantly increasing.
We've asked for more food from donors, and have also borrowed money in order to purchase some as there have already been days when we had nothing to feed the dogs. Now we have 120 kg left, which is barely enough for a day.
For days, the association's account has been empty, we know very well that it is difficult for all of us. We do everything we can, but surely we won't face it without help."
"We made the decision to stop taking dogs from the street, for a simple reason: the amount of donations received by the association has lowered drastically, while the volume of animals in our care is larger than ever, and we risk not being able to feed them anytime now, without even mentionning the rest.
Last rescue we did was for a couple of puppies reported abandoned near the railroad. Without food, without water in a hellish heat. They were lucky to be seen, and lucky that we went looking for them to take them in the shelter.
What will happen to the next cases ? As I'm sure there will be others urgent ones, old ones, injured etc... What are we supposed to do ? Everyone finds us easily to complain about dogs on the street so we can pick them up, or to abandon their own animal, but when it comes to contributing, no one sees us."
"Chris is two years old, we found him on the road, on his belly, his back legs completly paralysed. He was abandoned, and certainly hit by a car. His spine has been injured, and his back legs had to be amputated. He has been under our care for a few months, recovering.
He's been through a lot already, and it is unlikely he will get adopted due to his condition, he needs us to find kibble to keep on living here."
"The donations we receive, including those in kind during our food collections in front of supermarkets, have decreased.
We really feel like we are on our own, with only a few donors, who are not and can't be donating constantly. We have huge debts already to several veterinarians, as well as several people from whom we had to borrow money to keep the shelter going.
All the other associations we know are struggling themselves, we get by with a few people offering us some help, and our only hope at this point is the help offered by this campaign."
"Like all the associations in the country, ours fights a terrible fight with feeding abandoned and unwanted animals. But we need help to resist and save them. We have over 300 animals who need food, it really is urgent."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"People don’t help because they do not have money, and also most people simply do not care about the animals and the shelter.
Our rescue is needed because dogs are being abandoned everyday in a country where there is no spaying policy, they get abused, they suffer from starvation and lack of water. Many puppies are also being abandoned and due to their age, they are at high risks of dying because of their inability to get food or defend themselves. Alone we cannot cope."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers are refunded.
