Animal Webaction visited the site 06 September 2020 and confirms the situation described below.

1) In Serbia, Milka has only a few pieces of bread left to feed the 186 dogs in her shelter. If she doesn't find kibbles soon, they will starve!

"I have a few pieces of bread left but it won't last long... I don't know what they're going to eat after that...

This is my main concern. Dogs are weak anyway, and when they don't eat, they become even more vulnerable... If I don't find a solution, the consequences will be fatal... "

2) Milka welcomes many fragile dogs who will not survive without kibbles!

###

"The main difficulties I face are the lack of food and medicine. Dogs always need medical help... Their health is a daily problem, such as sudden epilepsy or tick infestation. For example, there are currently 36 dogs at the shelter that have parasitic diseases. They are undergoing treatment, which they receive for 15 days, which I also have to pay for alone...

There are a lot of old dogs, they have no teeth, so they have problems eating bread and chicken bones, so they have stomach problems, which again requires a fee at the vet.

Every time new dogs arrive, they bring diseases to the shelter. I always clean, vaccinate and spay/neuter my dogs, but it all takes a lot of money...".

3) This is the case of Capitan: with a diet without kibbles, he is condemned...

"I found Capitan in Belgrade, he had barbed wire around his neck! Today he has a parasitic disease and he has lost an eye. The poor guy is very calm and gentle, but he feels too weak to walk, maybe because he doesn't eat well? He needs special care, he would definitely feel better with an adapted food, because today he just lies down, without doing anything...".

4) Following the drop in donations, Milka had to use all her savings for her dogs: she can no longer buy kibble!

"I give everything I have to my dogs, I spend all my money to meet their needs. I've thought about giving up many times but I can't, I can't let them down. I wish they were all adopted... But nothing is that simple...

I feel desperate, I'm old and I don't see a better future coming anytime soon, because for the past 40 years, the situation has been more or less the same. I am doing my best, but without help, I don't see a way out, even if I have the best intentions, I can't afford to do more...".

5) Milka does not wish to receive any money, just kibbles to prevent her dogs from starving!

###

"I don't know why people stopped donating. Maybe because of the pandemic situation. I usually still notice that people who want to help a dog call me on the phone instead of coming to the shelter to see the situation. I think that people don't realize the daily situation at the shelter...

It really hurts me deep down inside to see that nobody wants to adopt dogs and that people generally treat dogs badly, in the sense that they throw them out on the street, torture them, etc. I think it's a real pain in my heart to see that no one wants to adopt dogs and that people generally treat dogs badly. Dogs mean so little to people... The world would be so much better if dogs could express themselves, and we could finally listen to them!"

6) If this campaign succeeds, Milka will not receive any money, but 1800 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics centre in Serbia.

Animal Webaction has a logistic centre directly in Serbia, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.

7) Milka's supporters are not enough to provide for the dogs' needs...

"All the problems accumulate: every day there are new needs, they have epileptic seizures, they need to go to the vet, sometimes they fight. Every intervention has a cost, and I have many dogs.

I have already taken out two loans, and I regularly ask for money from those around me... I can't stand this rhythm anymore !"

8) Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.

When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.

9) In Serbia, street dogs are hunted by the State and ignored by the population, volunteers like Milka are their only hope!
