1. In Serbia, Zvezdana is no longer able to feed the stray dogs she cares for. There are more than 40 of them, and they will starve if no one intervenes!
"Most of those dogs are abandoned, left on the street with no one to take care of them. They live in harsh conditions, most of the time hungry, without a safe and comfortable place to sleep, having to face extreme weather conditions. Many of them suffered or are currently suffering from various health complications due to lack of proper care. I am trying to provide them with food and necessary medical care as much as I can, because without a human help, those dogs are helpless.
But I am already taking care of many dogs in my shelter, caring for street dogs too is an arduous task. This pandemic has been a great setback for all of us, and lack of food is more than ever the major issue. Less donations means less food.
They don't eat enough I'm afraid, the food supplies are already at an alarmingly low level, I have to give them less and lower quality food. They get hostile and aggressive when hungry, it’s a bad situation, for both people and those dogs."
2. Sarenko has been living on the streets for years, and is weakened by age and illness. He won't be able to find food unless Zvezdana can bring him more kibbles.
"Sarenko has been on the street for a long time. He is a big dog, and there is absolutly no way for me to take him to my shelter.
He has tumors, but he is an old dog, more than 10 years old, too old to be operated on. He is weak, and there is no way for him to get by on his own on the streets."
3. Zvezdana also hosts 45 dogs in her shelter, whom she will soon not be able to feed either due to lack of kibble.
"People stopped adopting dogs, everything has been suspended. There are three bags of dog food left. Dogs are hungry, their immune system is getting weaker because of that and it might lead to health issues later.
I am afraid to even think about the food shortage, I go through a lot of stress thinking of ways to obtain necessary food for them and I truly hope that this campaign will succeed, otherwise I don’t know what the future will bring, I don’t want those dogs to starve."
4. Bela was living on the street where she and her puppies were threatened until Zvezdana intervened. Now at the shelter, they need kibbles.
"She gave birth to her babies on the street. She defended her babies against people, tried to hide in an abandonned house. I brought them to my shelter, they really needed to eat.
I managed to get one of the puppies adopted, but three others remain with Bela, and they all need to be fed."
4. For years Zvezdana has devoted her life and her scarce resources to improving the lives of abandoned dogs, but the needs are overwhelming, she can no longer afford to buy kibble.
"Lack of finances, lack of food, many dogs require medical assistance, and sterilizations have to be made. I try to help them as much as I can, I often take dogs to the veterinarian in order to provide them with much necessary care, it all costs a lot, all those expenses are too much for me.
There's been a huge drop in donations, with the current situation concerning the pandemic, problems will inevitably continue to persist or even get worse. There is a lot of work to be done, too much work for a single person to handle. I’m trying to help as much as I can, it is very difficult.
My hands are tied, but I need to find a way to cope with current difficulties, no matter the problem, dogs still have to eat."
5. Zvezdana isn't asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.
"This situation makes me feel very helpless, and I worry a lot about the future of those dogs. I am constantly in fear of not being able to feed them anymore, losing donations, and failing to find a help.
I hope that the campaign will be successful so that I will be able to continue taking care of all of them, I also hope that the situation with the pandemic will get better and that people will start adopting dogs again, that after all these hardships things will start getting better."
6. If this campaign succeeds, Zvezdana will not receive any money, but 1800 kg of kibble, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics centre in Serbia.

7. Constantly in the field, Zvezdana has little support and no time to look for it, she doesn't know how to get help if this campaign doesn't succeed.
"Less and less people are giving donations, because of the pandemic many people lost their jobs, so, with the economy being in poor state not many people are able to help us, those are really unfortunate circumstances.
Yet, hungry and neglected dogs can become aggressive and pose a threat to the people. Many dogs have been sterilized and returned back on the street, by keeping this up, feeding and caring for these dogs, we protect both animals and humans, and allow them to live together."
8. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
