1) In Serbia, Zorka will soon run out of kibble to feed the 140 dogs in her shelter: they will starve if nobody intervenes!
"With the last donation I received, I only have enough left to last a day or two... I soak the food in water, otherwise, I don't know how I could feed them, there is soon nothing left and I have no solution to buy more kibbles...
I used to be able to get bags of croquettes by donations. People would help me, and I even had enough food to feed the dogs in the other shelters. Today, I don't have this option anymore, I'm all alone! The people and businesses that used to be willing to help, have completely stopped... This is what hurts me the most and worries me the most, without food I cannot help these poor dogs...".
2) Because of the lack of kibble, Zorka has already had to stop helping street dogs...
"I feed the dogs in front of the shelter and I also leave food in the center of the village for the stray dogs to eat. In front of the shelter, I often find them weak and almost starving. I always leave some food in front of the doors, because otherwise, on an empty stomach, they fight among themselves for a poor piece of bread.
I can't take all the stray dogs because I can't take care of them. There is a lot of space, 1000 dogs can be accommodated here, but I can't support it financially. I only save the animal if it is in danger of death, otherwise I can't take care of that many dogs, let alone feed them...".
3) Lakica has just arrived at the shelter: she is so skinny that without kibbles, she will be one of the first to succumb to hunger ...
"I just found Lakica in front of the shelter, very weak and thin, I was immediately afraid for her survival. She seemed to have given birth to puppies very recently, but I never found the puppies...
The veterinarian found an inflammation of her uterus, he found her extremely thin, and confirmed to me that she would not survive without food...".
4) Zorka can't even afford to repair the shelter's boxes: she can't buy kibble!
"I remember when I used to take care of a lot of dogs on the street by myself. People abandoned and hurt them and I was the only one who saved them. I've been doing this for decades and my dedication has never been a problem. I have a special bond with dogs, and I have spent the last few years of my life caring for animals in need. The government doesn't help me, they don't do anything for animals in general.
People react when you publish a picture of a dog, they want to help. But when they hear that I have so many dogs, they get scared and run away. A lot of people promise to help, but they never do."
5) Zorka doesn't ask for money, just kibbles to keep the dogs from starving...
"Because I'm old and weak, I don't have the energy I had 17 years ago... all my life I've ignored my own needs and devoted everything to dogs, but I can't do it alone anymore! I move around with a cane, I get up very early and go to bed very late. I don't know how long I'll last.
I am exhausted. I'm 71 years old and I feel like I'm getting weaker every day. My health is bad and I am unable to cope with all the daily tasks and pressure. I'm doing my best to keep up, but I have to be honest and say I can't take it anymore."
6) If this campaign succeeds, Zorka will not receive any money but 2000 kg of kibbles, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistics platform in Serbia.

"I sold all my assets and spent all my savings. My only income is my small pension, and I can't feed all the dogs on it. If there is a shortage of food, I won't be able to find a solution on my own and continue to feed them.
A lot of money is spent on electricity and gas. No one wants to help me pay the bills and other daily expenses. No one asks me if I need anything. I live like this in my very damaged house. If the bills and gas were covered in some way, I could do a lot more at the shelter.
I can't deal with all the expenses and obligations that I have at this point."
