Animal Webaction visited the site 18 September 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"The number of abandoned dogs is getting higher and higher with the pandemic, there are many that I would like to rescue, but I can't anymore. I have completely stopped new rescues, I can no longer accept new dogs either for TNRV or for convalescence, because there is not enough food left, and not enough adoptions. I no longer have the means to take care of a large number of dogs without any help, to feed them, to treat them, to vaccinate them etc...
The street dogs are already not eating enough, and soon I won't be able to feed them at all, I only have 10 bags of kibble left to share between them and the dogs in my shelter. They will lose weight, fight amongst themselves, will be forced to wander around in other places to look for food, and are all the more likely to be victims of accidents and violence...".
"There is a great lack of means, the shelter is too small to accommodate more dogs. Because of the pandemic and the containment measures, people are no longer adopting, so the shelter is full.
There is a lack of food, I don't have enough kibbles, so to make them last I give them rice, which I cook with a few carcasses. They don't eat enough, they're not well fed, so they catch diseases and fight regularly. I am afraid they will lose even more weight, and I am afraid that they will starve."
"I rescued her from the street and took her to the shelter. I have been taking care of her for 9 months now. She is an anaemic dog with a very weak immune system.
Recently, her condition has worsened due to the lack of kibble, she needs vitamins and food to regain her strength. Given her condition, I fear that she may catch diseases and infections if she can't be well fed again quickly".
"I have a lot of expenses, I have agents that I have to pay every month, I have to buy hygiene products, medicine for the dogs, pay for the ambulance etc... Donations have kept on decreasing since the pandemic started.
I have already been forced to reduce the salaries of the agents, I can no longer pay them for lack of resources, even though they have families. Even so, I can't cope.
I'm riddled with debts, I have slates at several vets, even if they give me special prices, I can't manage on my own, without donations or help".
"I feel great sorrow for these abandoned dogs, even more so since I stopped the rescues. Dogs for me is a love that has turned into a duty and an obligation to help them.
I fear that these dogs will no longer find anyone to defend and help them. I hope that my shelter will overcome this crisis of lack of food and donations, and start to welcome new rescues".
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles throughout the country.
"As a result of the pandemic, many people have lost their jobs or are earning half of their wages, which has led them to settle for their family responsibilities and no longer donate.
I have tried to get help from other associations, but to no avail. I would like us to be able to get state subsidies from Morocco. But today, I have to make do with donations that are constantly diminishing, and I hope for some much-needed kibbles from Animal Webaction".
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.
