Animal Webaction visited the site 19 September 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"It is getting increasingly difficult as we get more animals, and still less donations than before the pandemic. There are many abandoned dogs in our area, and no other shelter for miles around. I can’t just sit by and not do anything. Most of these dogs might be dead right now if they weren’t here, that’s the difference this shelter is making.
I always make any sacrifice I can to make sure that dogs do not get hungry, I am constantly stressed about how I can get money for food or food donations directly. At that stage I’m afraid of not being able to keep the shelter open and the animals fed. I cannot express how much this help with food means to me and to every dog here."
"She was found at the Calafat border, she had been attacked by other stray dogs. Her wounds are slowly healing, but she is still very weak and recovering.
Has I not taken her into the shelter, she would have stayed on the streets, weak, injured and vulnerable to other strays again. She would have had strictly zero chance of staying alive."
"I have about 5000 euros of debt at the moment because I’m trying to keep the shelter running and buy enough food for the animals, offer them treatment, medications etc... I’m mostly concerned about not getting enough donations from people and being unable to get any more loans to buy them food.
I use as much of my own money as I can, and I struggle with convincing people to donate, these are pretty much our only options. I’m having trouble dealing with everything on my own because I am just one person and they are hundreds of animals. I don’t have the energy, the time, or the money to care for them on my own.
I barely manage to find a couple of people to help out around the shelter. I don’t know what I’d do if I was completely on my own, that’s why help from other people is so important. Every bit of help is essential."
"I feel very stressed and tired. But I never leave dogs behind, no matter how much we are struggling, because I think a single soul saved makes all the difference in the world.
I cannot even think about the possibility of not having food anymore. I hope to convince more people to donate and help us in any way they can. Any little bit helps. "
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Romania, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"I advertise the shelter as much as I can and I try to convince people to help us. I think people who know about my shelter help as much as they can. We are going through especially difficult times at the moment and maybe people are more concerned about their financial welfare than before and aren’t making as many donations.
We have received help in the past from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation and the Kola Kariola Association, but that’s it. Other organizations don’t usually help us"
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers are refunded.
