1. In North Macedonia, Mira has no more kibble to feed the street dogs, who have been massively abandoned since the pandemic. If no one intervenes, these dogs will starve!
"Some people abandoned their dogs during these times which are difficult for everyone, and those dogs are out somewhere with no help or care. And at the same time, this crisis made people donate less.
Strays haven't been eating enough really lately, since there are more dogs than before and we have less food for everyone. And now there isn't any food left for any of them anymore...We can’t afford to give them even that, the only pleasure they had in their hard life.
They need food now more than ever, with the winter coming. They start to group up more in search of food for survival, which could bring some trouble : I'm afraid some people will start killing them if they believe dogs are becoming aggressive due to lack of food. I'm desperate, and very, very worried for them"
2. Young Tony was recently injured in a fight to get food, he needs kibble to survive this winter!
"There are already signs of some aggression from some dogs because of the hunger unfortunately.
See Tony, he is around 7 months old now, born on the street, I've been taking care of him ever since. Overall he looks fine for now, but he's been forced to fight with other dogs for food, and got his eye injured.
His eye needs to be checked out at the vet, but most of all he needs food, as fighting for it brought him this injury in the first place, and will bring him others if dogs keep having to fight to be able to eat."
3. Mira also has over 30 dogs in her care, all rescued from the street, and vulnerable. But she will soon run out of kibble for them too!
"There is only a little bit of food left that I kept for them, around 10-15 kilos. I had to make few arrangements since this spring to host them, as it was impossible to continue to pay pension for all of them.
Donations are so rare now, I understand that everyone is affected by the situation, and animals are too. Since may- june, we really feel the lack of help and donations strongly.
It makes me feel very sad. I empathize with these poor souls, what they have to experience not by their fault."
4. Seriously injured by a car, Oko is still very fragile, he can't get by on his own.
"Oko got hit by a car, which left him with two broken legs, and a damaged diaphragm. His condition must be monitored because he has a huge risk of serious injury and even death if he hurts his stomach.
He absolutly needs food to regain strength, since he can't be taken to surgery at the moment. He is only 2,5 years old, there is no way for him to manage on his own in this condition."
5. Mira is alone to face the lack of donations, the increase of dogs, the debts and never-ending problems... she can no longer buy kibble!
"There hasn’t been fundings recently, and about help - it's even less than before. There are simply too many dogs for me to provide for everyone.
I've got debts already, I get phone calls reminding me that bills must be paid... Several dogs had to undergo surgeries on their legs, others are on a long term treatment for parasitic diseases. Since April/May, it's been very bad. Mostly because of the pandemic, I believe.
The thing is that someone has to take care of these dogs. They really need our help. Knowing this, i simply can’t leave them alone"
6. Mira is not asking for money, only kibbles to keep the dogs from starving.
"Being a stray, means being cold, hot, wet, hungry, thirsty... Having to stand human cruelty as well. Many of these dogs wouldn't survive on their own without our help. They desperatly need our help with food and care."
7. If this campaign succeeds, Mira will not receive any money but 2400 kg of kibbles, delivered from the Animal Webaction logistics platform in Northern Macedonia.

8. Mira's calls for help find little echo, she doesn't know where to turn for help if this campaign fails.
"Through social media like Facebook we try to ask for help and sometimes we get from few individuals. We also have a bunch of faithful supporters, but they can only do so much.
I am unfortunately not aware of any other organisation which can help with food here. I need more help from people with donations of money, food, medicine and of course more volunteer help."
9. Campaigns launched on Animal Webaction often fail.
