Animal Webaction visited the site 24 October 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"My husband and I are the only two people who take care of the 120 dogs at our shelter, and our main issue is getting enough food each month to feed them all.
In this period of time, we don’t have as many donations, it's getting more and more difficult. I'm afraid that at some point the shelter will run out of food and the dogs won’t be able to have full meals.
That’s quite scary because we have a lot of dogs with serious health problems that depend on quality food and need to eat right. Not to mention the dogs' bodies burn off a lot more energy in the cold freezing weather. If we don’t find food, they will not be able to stay healthy during the winter time and will begin to starve..."
"The situation right now in my area is very bad for abandoned dogs. Many people don’t care about sterilization and let their dog have puppies. There’s always a litter of puppies needing to be saved somewhere.
People also throw away their sick dogs because they can’t handle seeing them suffering or don't have money to spend at the vet's, so they choose to leave them on the streets.
With our current lack of donations, lack of space, and limited help (as it's only me and my husband), there are many other dogs on the streets that we can’t help right now. It’s heartbreaking to know that so many dogs could have a better life, but they literally starve in the freezing winter streets..."
"Ranitu is a 10-year-old male, he was abandoned by his family who lives close to the shelter. Before we rescued him, he was bitten by other dogs and had a serious infection and wounds on the neck, he had to have surgery for this and was also castrated.
He is now in the process of healing but he only arrived a few days ago. With his fragile health, Ranitu definitely needs to have full portions of food to be able to recover fully."
"I’ve always had tremendous love for animals and I think that’s why I chose to help them as much as I can. However, things are difficult to say the least, not many organisations are willing to help out and support dog shelters. That's why we don’t have any partnerships or companies who sponsor us, we rely exclusively on the donations we receive from individuals.
At this stage we have received fewer donations than usual so it’s very difficult for us to handle all the clinic costs, buying food and rescuing other dogs.
I wish I could do much more, but take satisfaction in knowing that I have saved a lot of dogs from death and found them forever families, in the country or abroad. This is wonderful and keeps us going no matter how hard it gets, adoptions are crucial for us and for the dogs."
"A few years ago me and my husband met a man who loved animals tremendously. Before dying, he asked us to take care of his 15 dogs. He was very worried about them. Of course we accepted and slowly started to save more and more dogs from the streets and public shelters.
I think I am most proud of the fact that we have great conditions for the dogs. We take care of them as best we can and we make sure each one of them is released in the yard for a few hours a day. I’m very proud that we have been able to find homes for so many of them which is almost a miracle for us.
It's true however that the work is extremely hard for me and my husband. We would love to have volunteers but unfortunately we haven’t found anyone willing to help us."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Romania which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"Our association is extremely needed in Romania. There are so many abandoned dogs that it sometimes seems unreal... I’m always stressed and disappointed to see some people treating animals this way and choosing not to help them. It’s extremely painful to live in this country surrounded by people who don’t lift a finger for a poor starving soul...
If everyone in this country were more united, we could do great things to change the situation for the animals on the streets. This is my hope for the future, that people will open their eyes and decide to help even if a little bit.
Right now, the reality is that the pandemic has impacted many people financially and it’s even harder to get the funds we need. People are very concerned with their finances, some maybe lost their jobs and that’s understandable in these uncertain times. That's why we need all the help we can get!"
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
