Animal Webaction visited the site 08 December 2020 and confirms the situation described below.
"During the cold days, street dogs tend to hide as they try to escape the weather conditions and keep warm. I feed about 30 of them on a daily basis, and there are others that come and go, it is hard to estimate their exact number.
Street dogs live in very harsh conditions. With winter, they are left to withstand very low temperatures, amidst snow and/or rain most of the time. They are often suffering from numerous health issues due to malnourishment, they are helpless and in desperate need for our help.
With the economic situation not getting any better, problems continue to pile. I will be out of food to give them in less than 10 days from now, and I really hope for the campaign to succeed, because I am terrified by the thought of those dogs starving. It puts me under a lot of stress, and as donations dropped, this is my only hope now."
"They are on the street, my shelter is full unfortunately, I just can't take them all. They live at the flea market, thrown out of the village, with just a tiny, makeshift improvised shelter.
I bring the mum food, so that she can survive and feed them, and I will have her neutered as soon as possible.
My heart aches for them. If I was wealthy, I would take all the dogs from the city, I myself do not need anything."
"I have 50 dogs in my shelters right now, it is overcrowded. People are less willing to adopt dogs at this moment. It is troublesome, and I must try to do whatever is in my power to feed them. There is just too much work to be done by me alone, and lack of finances is a constant issue.
Some of the dogs that I care for are very fragile and require necessary medical care. I often need to take them to the veterinarian for examination, to get injuries treated if any, to get sterilized, etc. And of course, when dogs don't eat well, they are prone to getting sick.
I'm already forced to give them low quality food, and will still run out in a couple of days. I don’t want them to starve."
"This pandemic affected people greatly and damaged the economy. People are troubled by these circumstances, many lost their jobs, and because of that, many are not in a situation to help with donations, which is dramatic for my rescue.
Donations have been dropping, I have already been forced to borrow money and get indebted, and it seems to me that the situation isn't going to change for the better soon, which worries me a lot, as I'm already at a point of no return.
I'm afraid of being completely helpless and unable to make a change. I feel frustrated, sad and angry when I think of all those dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated and left to survive at the mercy of the random passengers. I want to be able to at least provide the basic care and food for them."
"I try my best to find them food, even if it is bread, bones or no matter which leftovers. Providing dogs on the street with food and necessary medical care makes a great difference, it means a lot. Stray dogs are hungry, anxious and some can be aggressive towards people due to lack of food and poor health.
But taking care of the dogs in my shelter as well as the stray dogs is a very difficult task, and I am afraid that I will not have enough to feed them. I hope that the campaign will be successful, and that I will be able to take care of them in the future, as I have until now."
Animal Webaction has a logistics platform in Serbia which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"Unfortunately there haven’t been many positive changes lately. Donations dropped, and with the winter getting there, we need food more than anything, but also more blankets and tent wings in order to keep the dogs warm and protect them from getting wet during the rainy days.
I call for help on social medias, but I haven't been able to reach out to other organisations recently, I don't even know where to start anymore."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
