"The amount of abandoned animals has soared in the region. I increased my efforts during the health crisis but unfortunately now we can neither save nor take in new dogs.
We feed about 50 stray dogs every day, some of them are used to returning near the shelter, others are waiting for us daily. They know our car, they come towards us when we stop and wait for the kibbles to arrive.
I only have 13 bags of kibble left, due to a lack of means and with the decreasing donations, I can't buy any more. I had an agreement to collect leftovers from a few restaurants, but unfortunately they have been badly hit by the crisis and their chefs can no longer donate now, it makes a huge difference. My hands are tied, I feel unable to help these poor dogs".
"We have had more abandonments and fewer adoptions for several months now. Each adoption could have delayed my shelter getting full and could have saved a dog, but unfortunately they are in sharp decline and the shelter is saturated.
The dogs don't eat enough, they fight amongst themselves, the stronger one eats the share of the weaker one. They are prostrate, less happy. Our behaviour has changed during the health crisis and so has the behaviour of the animals.
I have very weak dogs who urgently need good quality food to survive, I am afraid that their condition will worsen or that I will lose them".
"Lola is a little dog saved following a car accident. She was hungry, with her skin stuck to her bones.
She's still underweight, she's just a puppy that needs good food to grow properly."
"My rescue relies on donations, which are almost non-existent at this stage. I am essentially financing things alone, with the modest help of a few donors who can now only provide half of what they used to give. My shelter has lost more than 75% of its resources.
At the moment, I pay for the association's vehicle and the caretakers with my own money, they too have families to look after and I can't fail to pay them. The health of my dogs is also important, I still have to take them to the vet for their care, vaccinations etc...
The future looks worrying for my shelter, I am overwhelmed with dark thoughts, I feel desperate because I don't see what more I can do for my shelter which is on the verge of bankruptcy".
"I am still positive with Covid-19, I have been for 2 months now. I am very careful with the others, I keep my distance and wear the mask at all times, no one around me has been contaminated.
I've lost my taste and smell, I'm not getting better despite the treatment because I can't rest. I am increasingly stressed, I spend all day thinking about the fate of my shelter, I am feeling down because of my illness and because of the critical situation that my association is experiencing.
The year 2020 has been so hard, I am afraid that the health crisis will affect the year 2021 too, my shelter will surely not be able to survive in these conditions, and I am even afraid that I will no longer be able to help the street dogs if the situation doesn't improve".
"I have been passionate about animals since I was a child, and a few years ago I decided to open a convalescent centre based on the TNVR (editor's note: programme involving the capture, sterilisation and vaccination of stray animals before their release).
My convalescent centre was the first of its kind in Morocco, it aims to eradicate rabies and other parasitic diseases. We also work to prevent cruelty and animal abuse.
No one can touch the dogs in my region as long as my shelter is there. The people of the region have become more and more respectful of animals since the inauguration of my centre. I look after the welfare of the dogs in my shelter and the dogs in the street, I look for families to adopt them and to take care of them too. Unfortunately I will no longer be able to take care of them if I am no longer able to feed them".
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles throughout the country.
"I contacted several associations, especially in France and Switzerland, but because of the borders being closed everything was postponed.
I stopped taking charge of new rescues due to lack of means and food, I can no longer intervene if funding is not secured.
Unfortunately I cannot save all the animals but I do the maximum with what I can. I need this campaign to succeed so that I can feed my dogs, and the street dogs who are suffering even more".
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.

Due to Hind's positivity with Covid-19, and in order to limit any risk of contamination or increased circulation of the virus as a result of our actions, it was impossible for us to visit the shelter to organise this campaign.
Animal Webaction has, however, visited Hind's shelter several times over the last two years, the most recent visit having been made in September 2020. We are in close contact with Hind, who has helped us prepare this campaign, and who we fully trust.
