Animal Webaction visited the site 02 February 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"With the floods, my shelter has been severely damaged, it is in critical condition and requires renovation work that I am unable to carry out. There were leaks and parts of our buildings have collapsed. Most of the kibble that I had left was flooded by the rains and eventually rotted.
I lost 10 dogs due to the cold, the rains and the lack of food especially: I feed the dogs with a few kibbles and with bread. At this moment, I only have 5 bags of kibble left, when I normally need 3 bags a day to feed the dogs...
The dogs will starve if I don't find food for them. I am desperate, my shelter is collapsing in front of my eyes and there is nothing I can do to save it."
"The situation is catastrophic, the number of abandoned dogs keeps increasing. We currently take in the most urgent cases only because we do not have enough resources nor space, and I will soon have to stop rescuing dogs if it goes on like this.
At the moment I no longer feed stray dogs as I already cannot feed the dogs living in my shelter with the kibbles I have left... I used to feed them carcasses and leftover chicken that restaurants gave out to me for free, but now that restaurants are in crisis, they prefer to sell the rest of the food, and I simply can't afford to buy it every time.
I am afraid that I will have to stop helping all the animals that are out there, stray dogs who are in pain and need my help so much."
"Vanille is 3 months old, I rescued her from the street 15 days ago. She was very thin and had scabies.
She must not lose weight; I have already lost several puppies to the parvovirus. It might not have happened should they have had enough kibble to eat.
Vanille is now medicated, and I gave her worming tablets, but she needs vitamins and proteins to recover. And she needs good food to beat the winter cold."
"The pandemic has a huge impact on my action: purchasing power has dropped, which in turn has negatively impacted donations. My shelter is now crowded due to adoptions dropping and abandonment increasing. We have only had 3 adoptions this month, despite the awareness campaign I conducted.
I am overwhelmed by the expenses of my shelter, between food, the cost of operations and sterilizations, transportation costs, rent, the salary of the janitor, etc. I already have debts everywhere: at the vet's, the pet shop, the pharmacy...
I can't afford to buy kibbles, and I no longer work to take care of the whole shelter. I can no longer manage to get by because I lack resources and help so much.”
"I've been passionate about animal welfare since I was a child, so I founded a shelter to protect the animals I saw on the street. Stray dogs are often traumatized because they have been abused, so I try to do my best to get them back in shape and give them a good life.
I take care of their physical and moral well-being: I provide them with food, care, sterilizations... and I do my best to find them a family, because they need love and tenderness!
However, I am afraid that I will have to close my shelter if I can’t find kibbles soon to feed my dogs."
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles throughout the country.
"I receive help from the Rapad Maroc network and from "Animaux en péril", a Belgian association. I am also supported by a company in Casablanca, Jessey, and by a couple of regular donators, but it is still not enough.
I have tried to look for other associations to help me, especially in France, but unfortunately with travel restrictions, everything is more difficult and they have not been able to intervene.
I really hope this campaign is successful."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the beneficiary receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.
