"My association takes care of feeding nearly 180 street cats spread over a dozen sites around Fos-sur-Mer. On some sites, there is absolutely nothing to eat, not even dustbins where you can find food leftovers... When I see the state of some stray cats, I can't just stand still without doing anything.
But I only have three bags of kibble left to feed the cats... enough to last barely a week! Our budget is exhausted, it's really a complicated period for our association.
Honestly, I don't know how the street cats will cope if I can't help them anymore... Hunger might take them away one by one!"
"Loco is a stray cat who has been suffering from herpes for several months. Because of this virus, his airways are blocked, he has difficulty breathing and his nose is congested. He suffers from intense fatigue and sometimes runs a fever, which drains him of all his energy.
How will he survive if he doesn't have any kibble to replenish his energy? There is no potential food source in the place where he lives. I fear the worst for him..."
"Between travel expenses and the purchase of kibble, the costs are enormous! Not to mention the veterinary bills for treating sick cats and operating on those that need surgery... I can't keep up financially at all.
It's getting harder and harder, and sometimes there are cats I cannot take care of... I even have four big veterinary bills waiting to be paid! Without support to buy kibble, I will soon not be able to help sick or injured cats at all... It will be a disaster!"
"Ever since I was 21 years old, I have been caring for cats in need. I have been doing this for 13 years now, despite my job and health problems. In addition to taking in 22 sick cats in my flat to prevent them from being euthanised, I travel long distances every day to feed street cats that have been left behind.
Today, I don't have the financial means to cope! I probably won't be able to pay my rent next month to feed the cats. But I cannot go on like this, otherwise I might end up on the street! The cats will then have no one to help them... They won't survive the lack of food!"
