Animal Webaction visited the site 20 March 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"I am currently in a very bad situation due to obstacles to get kibbles… The pandemic has set us all back and donations from individuals and from certain organisations, which made my association survive, have become increasingly rare.
Finding food is my primary concern on a daily basis. We now have kibbles for the next two or three days only, and that's it. It will be disastrous if I do not give to the dogs to eat.
If I fail to get food, the worst really can happen. Not only will it be bad for the dogs' health, but dogs will also start attacking each other, showing their aggressive side. I am terrified of what it would look like, I would be helpless and I think I would just sit there and scream out loud."
"The dogs we find are skinny, sick, abandoned as puppies, or have been harmed by humans; they wouldn't be alive if we hadn't saved them.
Every day, we receive new pick-up calls, we never know what we will come across and we face tragedy and horror. I don't always have the best conditions, but I have to manage it, and the number of dogs in the shelter is growing all the time.
This is what made food become the most pressing issue. All of those dogs need kibble as their unique source of energy, they won't survive without it."
"Sara is a disabled dog who was shot by hunters. She underwent four operations after her bones began to shatter. She can't control her physiological needs, which is why she has to wear a diaper all the time.
We are really devoting ourselves to her, not counting our time, and although nothing can be done about her condition, a lack of food would definitely impact her already precarious health."
"Since the beginning of the pandemic and financial crisis, donations and sponsorships are even harder to secure and we no longer receive food or equipment. Even animal lovers are no longer able to contribute as they have to take care of their families first.
I keep going in front of the Pet Center to collect dog food every Friday, begging their customers for help. But the amount of kibble I manage to collect is always very small, about 20 to 30 kg a week, when I would need 100 kg a day.
Hence I am saving every dinar to try to feed and care for the dogs. And when I can manage to buy food, I can only afford poor quality due to lack of funds. It is a daily challenge and I have exhausted all resources, I desperately need some help."
"My mission began as a random act of kindness, but I soon realised it was my life's calling. I believe there is a clear need for rescue operations, as well as neutering, spaying and animal protection, and every action of mine aims at helping dogs and improving their welfare.
There is no time to rest or make excuses: I know that I cannot save the world, but I will do everything in my power to prevent animal abuse from hapenning while I am alive.
My biggest wish is for each of my dogs to find a family that will give them a lot of love. People need to understand that if they adopt one of the dogs from the shelter, they are doing a huge thing for both the dog and themselves, because the dog will love them immensely."
Animal Webaction has a logistic centre directly in Serbia, which enables us to intervene quickly and deliver kibbles.
"I am very active on social media. Every day, I'd share stories about our pets or show large surgery bills for transparency. But although some people help as much as they can, that is far from enough given the number of dogs I take care of.
Anyhow, I believe that each of us can make a difference and every donation means a lot to me. I hope that better days will come."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the products. The beneficiary doesn't receive anything and the buyers are refunded.
