1. In Bosnia, Svjetlana is running out of kibble to feed the 180 dogs in her shelter. They will starve if no one helps!

%%%

"I have 180 dogs, an additional 23 have arrived in the last three months. Dogs keep coming almost every day, puppies are left on our front door... We are already past our full capacity and we worry how we will feed them all.

Our kibble stock is almost empty now, it will be depleted in less than a week and we don’t have resources to get new shipment of food . The current situation in the country and in the world is so bad that we can't expect donations because people don’t even have enough money for themselves.

I fear my dogs will face denutrition, sickness and starvation, just like stray dogs left alone on the streets... Whenever I think about this, I get close to nervous breakdown, especially because our situation is deteriorating quickly."

2. The lack of kibble already threatens the health of the most fragile dogs, they will not be able to endure deprivation.

###

"Our little money has to go to kibble to keep the dogs fed, to the detriment of everything else, and even so we can't buy enough to make sure the dogs are healthy.

Many dogs in the shelter are particularly weak, they need some supplements and good quality food to maintain their condition, but I can't provide it and I feel like I am failing to help them.

I can’t just watch them suffer, so I give my best to help the best I can. But the food issue prevents me from focusing on anything else than kibble."

3. After a sepsis almost killed her, Romana remains weakened, she will not be able to overcome a shortage of kibble.

###

"Romana was born in 2007 at the shelter, she has spent her whole life there along with her sister Alisa. No one ever wanted to adopt them, for some unknown reason.

Romana has always had a fragile health: a few months ago she got hurt and it immediately resulted in a very severe abscess. She went into sepsis, it was a matter of life and death.

She managed to fight the infection then, but recently she has developped new skin issues. She is missing part of her fur and she does not respond to treatment. I suspect the quality of the food might play a key role here."

4. Non-existent donations, minimal subsidies, abysmal debts... Svjetlana can't buy croquettes anymore!

###

"We don’t receive any donations. We receive a symbolic subsidy to keep dogs away from the streets, but no money to sterilise them and take care of them afterwards on the long course.

This is why we are in debts so much: just for food we owe more than 1500 euros, and an additional 750 for veterinary fees. Besides, much fewer dogs were adopted abroad lately: with dogs staying at the shelter and new dogs coming in daily, our costs keep growing endlessly.

I try to knock on everyone's door, but whenever I go I am at best denied help due to lack of means, at worse not even listened to. I see no way out as we have run out of financial resources."

5. Svjetlana is not asking for money, only kibble to keep the dogs from starving.

###

"I devoted my life to animals. I started small and year after year we have moved on to a complete, proper shelter. I’m proud to say we have helped more than 600 dogs to find new homes and people who loves them.

I am growing old though and I know it will be important that we get more help, from ordinary people to people on high places in the government. We have that saying, ‘hope dies last’... We will see what the future brings!"

6. If this campaign succeeds, Svjetlana will not receive any money but 1920 kg of kibble, delivered from Animal Webaction's logistic platform in Bosnia.
