Animal Webaction visited the site 03 June 2021 and confirms the situation described below.
"I try to feed about 100 street cats once a day. Without my help, they can't find anything to eat, because the butchers and other shops are either not working enough or have gone out of business and can't help anymore.
I am doing my best, but I am also confronted with an almost complete halt in donations. Some donors have been kind enough to contact me and tell me that they can no longer afford to donate — you can't blame people for that, you just can't.
It's awful, because due to this crisis I have already had to give up going to some places as I don't have enough to feed all the cats, and today in your presence I am finishing the kibble I have left. The cats are thin and hungry, they are abused sometimes, they are being devoured by stray dogs... I am afraid they will die of hunger, it is my fear and my nightmare. In fact they are already dying slowly..."
"I also have a shelter with 111 cats. Unfortunately, they are rationed, because the drop in donations prevents me from giving them enough. It is sad but it is the truth. There is no luxury or comfort here, it's all about survival.
Today, for them, I have 20 kilos of kibble and two tins of canned food, but tomorrow I will have nothing. Some of them are already starting to lose weight, and to have digestive and dental problems.
I see them losing weight, being sad and sick, I am afraid that their mortality rate will explode because they are not well fed... I feel sorry, powerless, angry, I am afraid for my animals, that everything I have done for them will fall apart..."
"Tortue is a two-year-old female cat. I picked her up in the street, she was between two cars and hadn't even opened her eyes yet. Unfortunately, she caught coryza and it cost her her eye.
Since then, Tortue's health is precarious, she has already had several infections and her digestive system is also very sensitive. She absolutely needs a balanced diet with good quality kibble in sufficient quantity to keep her health from deteriorating."
"The crisis is a catastrophe. I have no sponsors and hardly any donors, because they themselves need help... As for me, I have no source of income at the moment, because the pandemic has deprived me of a job. I am trying to sell my belongings, but that is all I can do...
The state is not reacting, other associations and I have tried to ask for help, but there is no public programme and we have no chance of getting subsidies.
I am doing my best to manage everything but it is not easy, I have no more money to finance my action and the kibble, and I can't ask suppliers to give me loans anymore, because I am already too indebted... It is essential that people support me during this difficult time."
"I can't find a sick animal on the street and pretend nothing happened, it is in my nature, I systematically try to make even a small change... This is my weak point, in a way, and that's how I founded the association in 2017, when initially it was a boarding house.
Animals are living beings too, they have the right to live, to live well and to eat. Moreover, sterilisation and vaccination campaigns reduce the risk of diseases transmissible to humans, in other words we save the lives of humans too.
I bring a small stone to the building, but it is better than nothing: I help living beings to survive. But I can't handle everything on my own anymore, I'm a human being, it's become far too difficult to take on everything by myself!"
Animal Webaction has a logistic platform in Morocco, which allows us to intervene quickly and deliver kibble throughout the country.
"I keep making pleas for help on Facebook and Instagram, but without much success.
I've been having health problems for some time, I've been hospitalised, but given the situation I'm completely neglecting my health, I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping.
I hope people will hear my appeal, and help me by adopting my animals, sponsoring them, and contributing to this harvest."
When a campaign fails, Animal Webaction cannot deliver the collected products, the organizer receives nothing and the buyers get a refund.
